Jeffrey B. Ritter, Georgetown University Law Center: “Mapping the Law: Building and Using Visual Mindmaps in Legal Education”

Jeffrey Ritter develops and teaches new courses on collisions and chasms between law and technology at Georgetown University Law Center. In this video, he presents his talk, “Mapping the Law: Building and Using Visual Mindmaps in Legal Education,” within the Applying Learning Theory Pod at LegalED’s 2014 Igniting Law Teaching conference. In his presentation, Ritter introduces how detailed, visual information maps can be created and used to teach and deliver substantive content to students. Features of the maps will be shown, and the benefits of enable the students to learn more, retain more, and be more effective as legal professionals will be explored.

When he is not lecturing at Georgetown, Ritter also lectures at Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering. He also lectured at The University of Oxford in the Fall of 2014, where he taught a new graduate school course on “Building Information Governance.” He is globally recognized as a pioneer in shaping the legal rules for online commerce.
